                              PILOTS  for  Accel  Remedial reading for Grades 7 - 12

       PILOTS for Accel, isa remedial program that delivers remediation at an adult level. For any adult reading program to be successful it must be realized that vocabulary is the key. PILOTS for Accel exposes the student to over 2000 new words. It includes reading material by Victor Hugo, Conan Doyle, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, Jack London, Sir Walter Scott and Daniel Defoe. At the same time the student does not escape learning the principles of: 

  • phonetic rules that have frequent utility

  • words in which the sound of the vowel is modified

  • words in which the sound of the vowel is modified

  • words that contain the most common prefixes and suffixes

  • words that have more than three syllables

  • conveying meaning when reading orally

  • comprehension

     This combination of learning the basic principles of reading combined with vocabulary development up to the grade 9 level makes PILOTS for Accel a powerful tool raising the reading level of secondary students and adults.
